WHY PEACE CORPS?

Every Peace Corps Volunteer has his or her reason for applying and joining the organization. Some PCVs use Peace Corps as a stepping stone, some PCVs use it to jack up their inner humanitarian, and some PCVs use it because they have no other plans. Everyone is different.

So why am I here?

Well honestly, I must thank my sister, Kathrine. We were in the middle of making dinner one night in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and we were discussing the future (something we often do) and she simply asked, "What about Peace Corps?" Boom.

But really, why am I here? What keeps me in Dapaong, Togo? What pushes me to continue and to complete my service?

Just a few simple things:
  • French.
  • Adventure. (I'm simply too young and too much in love with world cultures to settle down to a nine-to-five job stateside.)
  • Challenge.
  • Nutrition. (I take great pleasure in educating my community on nutrition.)
  • Reading.
  • Humanitarianism. (I've become quite the humanitarian over the last couple of years and I dig it. Big fan.)
Am I glad I joined?

Oh heck yeah!

Will I extend a third year?

Yeeeeeaaaaaah no. Sorry Togo! America is calling my name and I'm answering the call come July 2013!
